Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is a student-run organization established on the Anschutz Medical Campus in 2015. Our mission is to substantially increase the representation and support of women in STEM disciplines through advocacy, skill building, and fostering allies among our peers.
Our goals are to cultivating discussion and awareness about issues related to women in STEM fields; promote mentorship and fellowship opportunities between students and female staff and faculty; and provide opportunities for career development and advancement for students and trainees
In addition to our role on campus, Women in STEM aims to promote STEM education for youth who are not traditionally encouraged to enter jobs in these fields (i.e. girls, minorities, low-income students) and to be a source of community education on STEM issues. To this aim, we organize a variety of outreach and mentoring opportunities with the local community.
